White CottageThis project is one of our favourites to date. The original design and concept was prepared by Architect Richard Bailey but project managed throughout by the Client.
The existing property although an extremley attractive property was in need of some refurbishment. The Cleint took the opportunity whilst the extension work was ongoing to also refurbish the rest of the house. We are extremely proud to have been part of the project and think the pictures speak for themselves;
Rear view including new extension to the left, new balconies (in blue glass) and reused conservatory.
The new detached garage with office space above is an excellent use of space. We also provided the driveway.
Including this bespoke oak staircase.
Stair from above.
Refurbished and redecorated frontage, roof and driveway.
Internally the propertry was redecorated and new wood work installed.
Other features included mood lighting and retractable cinema style TV screen.
The Client and some of the team at completion. The project was a great success and it was a pleasure to have been involved with the Client and the project.
This property benefitted from a beautiful location but lacked the size needed for a modern extended family. The Project involved the construction of a new substantantial basement providing untility and toilet facilities along with a large living area. The ground floor was completely re-configured and extended as was the first floor.
The build was challenging due to the construction of the basement directly adjacent to existing property, the number of internal changes and the matching of old and new. All was overcome to ours and most importantly the Client’s complete satisfaction.
A substantial floor area being provided by the new basement area.
The configeration of the build allowed the Client to specify some exceptional detailing such as this main entrance feature.
Basement wall construction. The walls were subsequently coated with a specialist rubberised waterproof tanking. The basement was subsequently backfilled and landscaped (See external pictures)
The exposed wood theme continued internally with this bespoke oak staircase again constructed and installed by ourselves.
The Clients wanted to achieve an open aspect to all the living areas to enjoy the views over their property. This was achieved with large glazed patio doors and side panels to the kitchen/diner in the foreground. The area directly above this could be accessed from the first floor and used as a sun terrace if so wished. The large glazed areas to the right are the living room and bedroom windows (incorporating juliet balcony). Access to the basement could be achieved both externally (to right of patio area here) and internally. The upper window areas are clad in decorative lead work which is particularly attractive.
The build was completed successfully and is being fully enjoyed by the totally satisfied Clients. Should references be required we could obtain these on a case by case basis.
Period Property Extension
This extension and conversion of a Leamington town house was recently completed. The design was by Warwick Architect Laurie Day and sypathetically extended the imposing traditional property.
This picture is of the rear of the property before the works commenced. Access was particularly limited and the construction sequence had to take this account.
The build included several eco friendly features such as solar panel water heating and timber pellet burning stoves. The panels and the flue for the stoves can be seen on this picture of the completed rear elevation. As can be seen the results a impressive.
Access to the front of the property was similarly limited with the adjacent party wall issues complicating the build further. With close liason between all involved we overcame these issues to the satisfaction of all concerned.
This picture shows the extended kitchen with pellet burning stove in the corner. A great living area given ample light by three large rooflights and patio doors. The floor is a natural slate laid by our craftsmen.
This owners of the property were particularly happy with the results and references will be given upon request.
Dorma loft conversion
Dorma Loft Convesion Bungalow
This project involved the conversion of a traditional bungalow into a two storey dormer bungalow. The build also included a total internal reconfigeration and refurbishment.
The finished result of this project added an entire new floor to the property. To accomodate this a dorma as shown on the left was added to both sides of the existing roof.
To accomodate the new layout the existing floors had to be strengthened with new steelwork and upgraded floor joists designed by local structural engineer Bill Hancock.
The finished upper floor incorporated a large bedroom area and en suite bathroom. This was a welcome addition and transformed the property. The ground floor was also completely opened out, re-decorated and a new kitchen fitted.
Large Link ExtensionThis project presented several challenges including overcoming building over an existing sewer, which was achieved by utilising insitu concrete piling and suspended floors. Access and space were also tight on the site, and the internal reconfiguration of the existing property was extensive and largely structural. We co-ordinated all of these issues successfully with the Client, Structural Engineer and local building control department.
The project entailed the construction of a unique living area connected to the existing property by a link, which accommodated a new kitchen, dining area and living space. The Client was particularly closely involved in all stages of the build on this project as he preferred to project manage the build personally after the initial design had been prepared.
Side Elevation from rear.
New attractive approach from the road showing new garage construction with electric door, block paved drive and gates to garden area
The internal view shows of how the large windows benefit the living space. The timber flooring was fitted by the Client.
This project was completed successfully and we are particularly proud of the result taking into account the complexity of the build in certain areas. We also enjoyed working with the Client and his wife, who’s fresh scones were something special!
Set out below is the letter we received from the Client after the work was completed.

55-57 Warwick Rd,
This is just a short letter to thank you and your team for the professionalism in the way you approached the work undertaken in what effectively is a new house for us.
Just to say we have had many ‘positive comments’ which reflects the passion and commitment you had during construction, in ensuring the outcome as we set out at the start of the project, was followed through to a high level of quality, delivered on an agreed timing plan & to an agreed budget.
Considering the scale of the project and the general disruption which is obviously going to be encountered, I feel MHC conducted the work in a very professional manner overcoming unforeseen issues in a very swift logical approach. I would have no hesitation in recommending MHC to anyone who is thinking of having a similar project done.
Finally just to say thanks again we really do love our new home it is a delight to be in, entertain in, it’s everything we hoped it would be, and as you know my expectations are high!
Side Elevation from front.
The unique and beautiful living area including large double glazed gable windows.
Timber gates within rendered screen walls provide privacy and security to the front courtyard area.
The patio configuration was carefully specified by the Client and the large patio doors from the living areas ensure this can be enjoyed to the maximum.
