PROJECT
Infill Extension to Provide New Classrooms
OVERVIEW
The project involved the conversion of an existing open courtyard into two fully enclosed classrooms with associated storerooms. The new spaces were delivered as fully finished, modern teaching environments, suitable for year-round use and compliant with current educational standards.
A new flat roof structure was constructed over the former courtyard area, incorporating rooflights and a central roof lantern to maximise natural daylight within the new rooms. The internal fit-out included full mechanical and electrical installations, such as air conditioning, lighting, and data provision, ensuring a comfortable and functional learning environment.
The works were delivered under a Design & Build contract. Construction utilised block walls with a traditional timber-framed roof. The floor build-up consisted of an insulated concrete base with a screeded finish, providing both thermal efficiency and durability. All finishes were carried out to a high standard, aligning with the existing school fabric and meeting long-term performance and maintenance needs.
