PROJECT

Demolition and Construction of New Annexe to Existing School House

OVERVIEW

This project involved the demolition of old dilapidated cottages adjoining an existing school house building, making way for the construction of a thoughtfully designed new annexe. The new structure was seamlessly connected to the original building via interconnecting doors, maintaining functional continuity while introducing a distinctive architectural character.

The annexe features striking design elements including high vaulted ceilings, exposed reclaimed brickwork walls in the lobby area, and prominent exposed roof trusses that lend an authentic, rustic charm. A key feature of the space is a mezzanine level located above the bathroom, accessed via a reclaimed spiral staircase salvaged from the library room—blending sustainability with architectural interest.

This project successfully combines heritage-inspired materials and modern spatial design, resulting in a complementary yet visually engaging addition to the historic school house property.
